We have always been ones who liked to help especially on matters concerning fashion. We made it a point of duty for ourselves to establish a relationship with our friends ,family and acquaintances to always be available to offer our genuine and sincere advises and also give directions on steps to take when it comes to fashion and beauty and we can say that we have had a great amount of good feedback rather than the bad or negative ones. So for us this blog, in a way, is our way of extending that “help” to others outside our reach or geographical boundaries. We do not claim to know it all or have the best knowledge of fashion, we do not even have the expensive designer outfits YET but in our every day looks we always try our best to exude beauty and simplistic perfections that always get people saying stuff like "ohh that looks really good on you" or "Wow I love your sense of style, can you teach me a thing or two" and for us as long as we keep getting such feedbacks from people we are doing something right.
WHY WE STARTED THIS BLOG?
We are going to take a moment to explain why we started this blog and more importantly what value we think YOU guys can get out of it.
I Davisfierce wanted to create a blog for years now I always used my social networks especially my Facebook I created an album called "Swagg it's Either You Got it Or You Don't" and I would post things that I found beautifully inspirational from fashion to fitness to beauty and other stuff and people would inbox me or comment and tell me how following the album has helped them in one way or the other to improve on their fashion and fitness goals.
Growing up Ruth and I have always been like super tight, same age, Cousins from a really close knit family and we grew up almost like twins, we have alot of similarities, we dance,act and sing together infact we were in a three person musical group called "The Wildzz" with one of our best friend and we have moments when are minds and thoughts sync more often than not.
First of all back in 2013 Instagram especially here in Nigeria was trending with all these fashion and beauty enthusiasts who would create pages and post beautiful people and outfits and give Shout out, some people even used it as a means to give shout outs and get a shout out back to gain followers and I felt like maybe that is what I should go into also so by Christmas of 2013 I spoke to Ruth and told her that I was going to make one of those pages but I would not just post beautiful people randomly like the rest did but I was going to actually post them because of their outfits and give constructive criticism and she was like yeah she was like yass hunnay I am down with that and infact let's do it together and I was super excited because she obviously knows alot more about women and make up than I do and we would be fire together as usual lol. But it wasn't untill 2014 that we actually opened THE FASHION POLICE NIGERIA PAGE up now I had a moment of epiphany I came across some other blog online that did the fashion police thing too for a while but stopped and they were awful at it so good thing they stopped, they were making jokes at the celebs they "supposedly" were criticising rather than constructively criticising their outfits and there were just off on so many levels and I said to myself this is it we would do THE FASHIONPOLICE NIGERIA but we would do it right and make people actually stop and listen and so we began and it was really tough at the beginning. We were struggling to find our bearing and trying to figure out the right way to go about it, learn indepth details about fashion, designers, body types, prints and all even how to criticise without being offensive or seem judgemental or like we are picking on every and anyone but eventually with the help of God and our team work and consistency we are good now we would say, we definitely are not yet they yet the way we would want but we sure have improved alot.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ THIS BLOG?
Truth is that, the fact that we created our own FPN doesn't mean others out there stopped and it's not like we can control that or send them emails and say "Hey we are better than you guys at this and have alot more larger fanbase so quit" lol we sure can't. The blogosphere is fully crowded with them but most of them are not original, they do not have original contents or ideas and most of the blogs out there are so focused on spreading news ,gossips and sometimes lies about famous people ,celebrities or trending topics because they want what would easily and quickly draw traffic to their blog ,they lack the patience to actually stay focused and in line with what they actually claim they are they for, one page we stumbled upon said they are fashion police Nigeria but posts celebrity gossip, random papparazzi photos of celebs walking down the streets or going about their lives and they just post them without saying anything about their outfits or looks. What we found to be the most funniest aspect of it all is that they say "fashion police NIGERIA yet there are photos of Kim Kardashian all over their contents or Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez atleast if you are going to do that atleast create a page and give it a title that leads people into knowing that is what they should expect *smh* .
Fashion Police Nigeria is a stand out BLOG in every ramiphication and we are not only going to be critics we are also going to give tips, host interviews and keep you up to date with the latest trends, designer collections and tell you guys the right ways to wear certain looks. How to put stuff together even the craziest of clothes and still make it work. You have a fashion delinma? I intend to make my blog a "Quick-Go-To" for those in search of a good fashion criticism and hear others say exactly what they were thinking about a particular look also we would use our interviews to ask those questions that you the audience have always wanted asked those little but ultimately intricate questions that are easily overlooked, those details that actually in their own little way shaped them into the people they became or are.
BTW, WHO ARE WE?
Our names are Davis Hudu Sani and Ruth Onyimire Otori, cousins born into a big family with big love for each other and that love extended into the kids in our family and being the same age and having interests in the exact same things most times, Ruth and I grew up to be really close.
We would say that fashion has always been part of us because of the kind of family we were born into, one which is very conscious when it comes to fashion,style and looking good.
Our mums alone are like one of our biggest fashion influences because they always made extra efforts in looking good and making sure it was the same for us the kids, we always were those kids who looked good all the time lol we were always at the tailors shop busy designing our next traditional wears or something like that and not to talk of the kind of safe
/innocent competition that goes on in the family everyone trying to outlook the next one, top what one has done or come up a look or style so unique that the whole fam is talking about and dare you wear something that was a little off or less than stylish and everyone would mock and tease you or as well Nigerians say "Dem go yab you tire ehn ,you go know " lol
So basically all of that and with the influence of society obviously, tv and social network coming into play groomed us into the fashion minds that we both are today.
Davis: I’m froma family of seven ,four kids, three guys and one lady who happens to be the first child, two parents but we have an aunt who is literally part of the family, she has been with us for years and was there when all of us the kids were born.
I am a student, blogger and Beyonce lover lol ,Fashion enthusiast, photography lover/enthusiast, dancer and nothing matters more than my music to me as long as I can ways at the end of the day sing a song? I'm good lol and I dream of one day being into entertainment in basically as many aspects of it as I am led by God to, I have my own blog called The DVFSTYLECOLLECTIVE
Ruth: I am from a family of five, three kids which are two guys and me the only lady.
I am a student also, blogger and lover of creativity I am great at make up, I can make wigs and DYI clothes and most of all I love fashion and entertainment, i'm going to be an actress someday and also I love music and entertainment.
If we ain't blogging, we'll be either taking rest or planning on what next big thing to blog about or thinking about how to conquer the world.
SOME RANDOM FACTS ABOUT US.
We were born in Nigeria, in the north kano state precisely.
We like to spend most of my time online, we watch movies alot and if we ain't doing that we could be out with friends and making silly videos or planning something creative and you would most likely find us dancing ,singing or partying because we love any opportunity to dance, see beautiful people and make new friends.
We love my family alot, we believe strongly in the bond of family and we are both bestfriends to our mums.
We love blogging and we hope it changes our lives.
We like having new experiences It doesn’t really matter if they’re good or bad, and if we could we would travel the world.
We both are really crazy and sometimes we are not sure who between us is crazier.
We both design clothes.
We both love Beyonce.
We both love purple.
We both love chick Flicks, Romance, comedy and action movies. Ruth loves series alot.
